Position Description:

The director of operations is responsible for overseeing all departments and directly supervising the directors of education, admissions, and financail aid. They are active in the development of policy and procedures and ensuring that the established policy and procedures are followed precisely. By working with the directors and top level administration, they provide the leadership to the overall initiatives of the academy.

Required Skills

The Director of Operations candidates should have skills that are strong in: leadership, training, managing, multitasking, coaching, phone skills, and attributes comparable to the department directors.

Competencies

Candidates have to be dependable, honest, self-motivated, willing to be available for student, director, instructor, staff, administration contact outside of school hours via phone or email, able to attend graduations as well as director and administration meetings as assigned, have creative abilities to make new processes and methods of learning, present themselves and the organization professionally, able to work with the administration in the development of new policies and procedures, mentor and monitor directors with difficulties, stay abreast of changes in the management industry through media and trade publications and organizations, able to work independently as well as in a team environment with other directors supporting others and the organizations’ efforts, react well in times of crisis and conflict, able to work with presentation tools such as powerpoint and projectors, able to follow rules and procedures of the academy and maintain focus towards achieving the departments and organization’s goals. Candidates are responsible for the monitoring of department operations ensuring that policies and procedures are being followed without deviation. They are responsible for maintaining the proper operation of each departmental systems, handle hiring and disciplinary actions, help set schedules and goals, prepare and conduct director reviews and metrics in a timely fashion, conduct regular meetings providing coaching and mentoring to assist the team in its efforts, scheduling directors hours, and participate in orientations, graduations, industry events and special events. The director of operation is the leader of the directors providing guidance, support, attends local and national industry functions bringing the wealth of information to the team to strengthen the group as a whole, and manages the day-to-day operations of each departmental director. They must help determine and actualize the overall operational goals and help develop new processes to continuously grow the academy, raise production levels, and meet all established director criteria.

Required Knowledge

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree with direct management experience, or preferably a Master’s degree in business or training related discipline, have excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills, general knowledge of computer skills specifically towards Microsoft Office programs, ability to work flexible and adaptable work schedules, ability to use good judgment as well as decision making skills, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality in representing the organization and its efforts.
