Position Description:

The Director of Admissions is the direct supervisor and manager of the admissions department. By managing the relationship between admissions and the administration, operations, and other department heads, they facilitate the recruiting of the student body and provide coaching, guidance, and training to the admissions representatives.

Required Skills

Director of admissions candidates should have skills that are strong in: leadership, training, managing, multitasking, coaching, phone skills, and attributes comparable to the admissions representatives.

Competencies

They have to be dependable, honest, self-motivated, able to work in a professional office environment, able to meet or exceed their new student recruitment goal each term, actively participate in the day-to-day operation of the school, able to attend graduations as well as staff and faculty meetings as assigned, able to work with the administration in the development of processes and procedures, stay abreast of changes in their industry through media and trade publications and organizations, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment with other staff and team members supporting the organizations’ efforts. They are responsible for managing all admissions enrollment efforts, help determine content and focus of marketing materials available for recruitment, provide input for hiring and disciplinary actions, help set admissions schedules and goals, attend weekly organizational meetings, prepare and conduct employee reviews and metrics in a timely fashion, conduct weekly admissions meetings for admissions providing coaching and mentoring to assist team in its efforts, schedule and participate in involvement with orientations, graduations, industry events and special events, and research and submit competitive marketing analysis and summaries. The director of admissions is the leader of the admissions group providing guidance, support, personal admissions activity, attends local and national industry functions brining the wealth of information to the team to strengthen the group as a whole, and manages the day-to-day operations of the recruiting efforts. They must help determine and actualize the overall operational goals towards recruitment and help develop new processes to continuously grow the department and raise production levels.

Required Knowledge

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in sales/management experience, excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills, general knowledge of computer skills specifically towards Microsoft Office programs, ability to work flexible and adaptable work schedules, ability to use good judgment as well as decision making skills, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality in representing the organization and its efforts.
