Position Description:
The financial assistance department assists prospective students in securing payment, credit, or payment plan tools for their education. Working in the offices of G.C.A. the finance department talks to prospective students about their individual financial situation, gives tours of the facility, and guides prospective through the options available for securing their education by explaining processes and procedures every step of the way. They work with prospective students providing the professional image of G.C.A. through their actions and interactions.

Candidates for the financial assistance department should have skills that include: general accounting skills especially the ability to work with facts and figures, strong verbal and nonverbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, records keeping, multitasking, time management, basic computer and internet skills, decision making, and both individual and group interaction capabilities. They must convey a customer service aptitude, possess a strong work ethic, and must possess an awareness of the necessity for accuracy and ethics in all matters.
They have to be dependable, honest, self-motivated, able to work in a professional office environment, actively participate in the day-to-day operation of the school, be able to attend graduations as well as staff and faculty meetings as assigned, able to work with the administration in the development of processes and procedures, stay abreast of changes in their industry through media and trade publications and organizations, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment with other staff and team members supporting the organizations’ efforts. Individuals must possess the ability to establish a rapport with people from varying cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Create viable plans and explain the information including the student’s/parents rights and responsibilities for each source, and negotiate payment plan schedules. They must be able to develop student financial plans in concert with institutional procedures and knowledge of state and federal regulations, assist students/parents with the completion of the applications and enter the information electronically, review the resulting reports and complete verifications as applicable, assign the appropriate budget to the student and package the student, assist with the completion of all required paperwork, ensure that credit is paid to the students’ accounts in a timely manner, keep complete and accurate files and paperwork, and be able to work daily with the representatives of lending organizations in concert with the academy’s goals and processes.
Prior financial assistance experience, lending institution experience, or credit industry experience preferred. Candidates should have experience working in a professional environment and have a documented record of their success during recent years in the workplace.
