Position Description:

Admissions representatives are responsible for the proper description of G.C.A. programs and the recruitment of new students. Working in the offices of G.C.A. the admissions department talks to prospective students, gives tours of the facility, and guides them through the enrollment process explaining processes and procedures every step of the way. As the front line department working with prospective students they provide the professional image of G.C.A. through their actions and interactions.

Required Skills

Admissions candidates should have skills which are strong in: presenting, phone presence and skills, verbal and nonverbal communication, persuasion, interpersonal skills, records keeping, time management, basic computer and internet skills, decision making, and both individual and group interaction. They must possess a sales aptitude, a strong work ethic, and have the desire to succeed and advance.

Competencies

They have to be dependable, honest, self-motivated, able to work in a professional office environment, able to meet or exceed their new student recruitment goal each term, actively participate in the day-to-day operation of the school, able to attend graduations as well as staff and faculty meetings as assigned, able to work with the administration in the development of processes and procedures, stay abreast of changes in their industry through media and trade publications and organizations, and able to work independently as well as in a team environment with other staff and team members supporting the organizations’ efforts. Individuals must possess the ability to establish a rapport with people from varying cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. They must become highly knowledgeable of the school’s mission, history, curriculum, individual courses, academic policies and faculty. Admissions representatives internalize the school’s commitment to high quality and continuous improvement, and they have a good understanding of the instructional processes. They must understand the composition of the local market and the competitive environment and how these factors affect the academy’s ability to achieve its goals. They need to react well in times of crisis and conflict, be able to follow rules and procedures of the academy, and maintain focus towards achieving the individual and organizational goals. They must be flexible in availability with some evening and weekend hours required.

Required Knowledge

Prior admissions experience is not mandatory if the candidate has prior sales experience. Candidates should have experience working in a professional environment and have a documented record of their success during recent years in the workplace.
