Position Description:

G.C.A. works hard to find the best candidates to instruct our courses. The faculty brings not only their abilities to instruct, but also the vital “real world” experience in the fields that they teach. They have the hands on experience of having worked in the areas they are instructing in order to provide personal examples of what makes a success in the workplace. They provide what their secrets of success were and give the students a viable roadmap to what made them that success.

Required Skills

Instructor candidates should have skills which are strong in: communication, presentation, group interaction, multitasking, organization, planning, record keeping, administer appropriate assessment tools, able to communicate well verbally, written and using visual tools, computer literacy in MS Office, Internet proficient, and be committed to life long learning for continuous improvement.

Competencies

They have to be dependable, honest, self-motivated, willing to be available for student contact outside of school hours via phone or email, able to attend graduations as well as staff and faculty meetings as assigned, able to construct lesson plans and exercises based on existing curriculum, have creative abilities to make new processes and methods of learning, flexibility to teach a variety of curriculum, present themselves and the organization professionally, able to work with the administration in the development of new courses and curriculum, identify students having difficulty with class and encourage them to seek additional help, stay abreast of changes in their industry through media and trade publications and organizations, able to work independently as well as in a team environment with other instructors supporting others and the organizations’ efforts, react well in times of crisis and conflict, able to maintain control of large groups of students (up to 24) at once, able to work with presentation tools such as blackboards and projectors, able to follow rules and procedures of the academy and maintain focus towards achieving the classroom and organization’s goals.

Required Knowledge

Instructor candidates should be experienced in the field they are submitting to instruct in. They must have documented proof of their success in recent years in the workplace. Previous instruction experience is preferred, but not mandatory. Instruction can be taught, however experience must come from the marketplace. Certain instructor positions may require college degrees or certification achievement.
