Career Description:
This is a great career for those who are looking for advancement opportunities. Responsibilities are likely to include handling inbound calls from travel agencies and/or general public directly and fulfilling air reservations only. The airlines offer outstanding travel benefits and extremely flexible schedules. This is a great opportunity for people who love working in a fast paced environment. Reservations agents may work at large airline reservations centers, in city ticket offices, or at airports. At airline reservations centers they may work in a large office on a computer, handling calls from potential travelers. In cities with reservations centers, most beginners start at the airport, handling passengers, and perhaps helping experienced reservationists at first. Handling telephone requests for tickets, assisting passengers with schedules and fares, and dealing with customer service questions. Airline Ticket Agents provide information on prices, seating, schedules, special requests, escorts for juveniles, ticket policies, and availability; reserve seats on flights; issue tickets; and research and resolve passenger problems.
